Summertime, and the reading is easy

Each year, USC President C. L. Max Nikias sends students a summer reading list; here are this year’s selections

Summer may be when most students put their books aside, but if USC President C. L. Max Nikias has his way, you’ll make time to read at least three.

Each year, the president sends students a summer reading list; this year’s list was emailed to students just before last month’s Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on the University Park Campus.

“This is a list of exceptional, thought-provoking works that we can read together, creating a common ground for discussions in the coming academic year,” Nikias wrote.

The president noted that the books are not required for classes, but provide an opportunity for USC to reflect on them as a community.

The books are available at the USC Bookstore and at other book retailers.
