USC took part today in the Great California ShakeOut Earthquake Drill. Students, faculty and staff at locations across the university were encouraged to drop, cover and hold on at exactly 10:15 a.m. for 30 seconds.

Provost Michael Quick, who spoke to Trojans about the importance of the annual event, was joined by Thomas Jordan, professor of earth sciences and holder of the William M. Keck Foundation Chair in Geological Sciences.

Meanwhile, students volunteered as quake victims as part of an exercise held on Cromwell Field.
