#IAmUnbroken: Video series honors Louis Zamperini’s spirit
Mike Nyeholt — co-founder of USC’s Swim with Mike fundraiser — talks about moving on after he broke his neck and was told he might never swim again
In conjunction with the Christmas release of the feature film Unbroken, USC is honoring iconic war hero Louis Zamperini, the Trojan whose incredible story inspired the movie. Angelina Jolie directed the film, which follows Zamperini’s life as a track standout, USC student, Olympic hero and World War II prisoner of war.
Other members of the Trojan Family who have overcome tremendous challenges are featured in the #IAmUnbroken series, a collection of videos on the website IAmUnbroken.com.
Today we hear from three-time All-American swimmer Mike Nyeholt, who was told he might never swim again after he broke his neck. Not only did he return to the pool, he co-founded USC’s Swim with Mike fundraiser, which helps provide resources for physically challenged athletes to get an advanced education.
