Jim Jacobs has joined the USC Engemann Student Health Center as medical director and associate professor of clinical pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
Jacobs, who was chosen after more than a yearlong search, was most recently director of health services at The Ohio State University. He earned his PhD in biomedical engineering at the University of Alabama and completed his medical degree at Duke University. While working at the Student Health Center at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, he cultivated his interest in young adult and college health.
Jacobs said he is eager to work within the integrated model of health at the Engemann Center, where he reports to Lawrence Neinstein, assistant provost of student health and wellness and executive director of health services.
“This is a very exciting addition to our excellent health service and to our staff and faculty,” Neinstein said. “Dr. Jacobs comes with years of experience both in emergency medicine and college health.”
