Students rallied for peace at an Oct. 2 event in Hahn Plaza that included songs, speeches and a candlelight vigil. Above right, two students finish one of the last of more than 1,000 origami cranes – folded over three weeks by faculty, staff, students and local residents – that hang in the basement of Commons and were dedicated that evening. In Japan, the crane is a symbol of peace; according to legend, folding 1,000 paper cranes will make wishes come true.
