Bilingual health resource website launched for community
A new health resources website — http://nelahealth.com — aimed at Northeast Los Angeles residents has been launched by the Keck School of Medicine of USC in partnership with the Dean’s Community Leadership Council.
The council was established by Dean Carmen A. Puliafito to explore ways to improve health services that meet the needs of the surrounding community. Council members wanted to launch a website in both English and Spanish to give residents of Northeast Los Angeles a comprehensive online resource on free or inexpensive health care providers and resources in their area.
“Many in the community go to local emergency rooms for services that can be provided more conveniently in outpatient clinic settings,” said Glenn Ault, associate dean for clinical administration at the LAC+USC Medical Center. “With the persistent overcrowding that we see in our local emergency rooms, this online resource serves as a hub for information on free and inexpensive health care providers in the area, so community members can see all the options available to them.”
