Vergnaud Memorial to be Held May 8

A memorial for former USC professor of linguistics Jean-Roger Vergnaud will take place on May 8. A concert of early music will be performed at Bovard Auditorium at 10 a.m., followed by speeches and reminiscences. A light breakfast at 9:30 a.m. will precede the concert.

Robert S. Harris Receives Outstanding Educator Award

USC School of Architecture professor Robert S. Harris has been awarded the 2011 Outstanding Educator Award by the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture.
Harris is a former dean of the school who has been recognized by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture with its Distinguished Professor Award. He also has received numerous accolades for teaching and research.

He has served as director of USC’s Master of Landscape Architecture program since 2006.

New Book on Labor Law and Employment

USC Marshall School of Business professors C. Kerry Fields and Henry R. Cheeseman have written Contemporary Employment Law, which focuses on the what, why and how of employment and labor law in the context of business management.

The book covers basic topics such as whistle-blowing, immigration and global employment issues.

Delving Into Dental Evidence

C. Michael Bowers, clinical associate professor at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC, recently released the second edition of his book, Forensic Dental Evidence: An Investigator’s Handbook, which provides information on investigating, identifying and processing forensic dental evidence.
