The USC community will remember the Nobel Prize-winning civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., in a memorial birthday celebration on Thursday, Jan. 20.
The theme of the university’s 24th annual commemoration is “Living the Legacy … and Beyond.”
The Rev. Jini Kilgore, associate minister at the Second Baptist Church in Los Angeles, will deliver the keynote address.
Groups scheduled to perform include USC’s Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, The Anointed Vessels of Praise and USC’s Fly Girls.
The program begins at noon in USC’s Bovard Auditorium and will conclude at 2 p.m., with the placing of flowers at the Martin Luther King Memorial in USC’s Crocker Plaza, in front of the USC Law School.
The event is co-sponsored by the USC Black Staff and Faculty Caucus, USC Civic and Community Relations and the USC Center for Black Cultural and Student Affairs.
