Mobile Communication and Society: A Global Perspective

There is no doubt that the rapid rise of wireless technology has changed how we conduct our day-to-day lives, but how does this affect us, at both a local and global level? Drawing on data gathered from around the world, Manuel Castells, holder of the Wallis Annenberg Chair in Communication Technology & Society in the USC Annenberg School for Communication; Araba Sey, USC Annenberg doctoral candidate; and co-authors explore the social effects of wireless communication, addressing issues of access, inequality and how it affects politics and culture.
