Water’s Fine for ‘Swim With Mike’ Event

“Swim With Mike,” the 27th annual fund-raiser that supports the Physically Challenged Athletes Scholarship Fund, returns to USC April 14.

The event, which has raised $6.3 million since 1981, features entertainment, raffle prizes, a silent auction, a swimming clinic with Olympians, a massage center and a belly flop contest. A barbecue begins at noon for $15 per person.

The goal is to help pave the way for student athletes from various levels of competition in high school and college to overcome life-challenging accidents or illnesses.

Individuals can contribute to the event which runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at McDonald’s Swim Stadium through personal donations or sponsorship of namesake Mike Nyeholt, scholarship recipients or a swimmer of their choice. Past participants have ranged in age from 2 to 80.
