FDA Chief Kessler to address graduates

Food and Drug Administration Commissioner David A. Kessler will address the School of Medicine’s 1996 graduating class at commencement exercises next month.

In addition to Kessler, USC trauma surgeon Edward Cornwell will speak on “The Quest for Excellence.”

Graduation ceremonies will take place at the Shrine Auditorium at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 26. No tickets are required for admission to the event, and seating will be available on a first come, first-served basis.

Roughly 156 new physicians will receive their M.D. degrees at the ceremony. In addition, the medical school will award eight M.S. degrees, 25 Ph.D. degrees, and one combined M.D./Ph.D. All M.D. graduates will gather for a group photo in front of University Park Campus’s Doheny Library at 12:45 p.m. on graduation day.

Immediately after the commencement ceremony, the School of Medicine will hold a reception at Founders Park on University Park Campus.
