Gordon Liu, assistant professor of pharmaceutical economics and policy, will host an international conference for the Chinese Ministry of Health from Oct. 13-15 at the USC Davidson Conference Center.
More than 20 high-ranking Chinese government officials will attend the meeting ,which will focus on health care reform, pharmaceutical economics and health policies.
During its annual Floral Headress Ball, the Las Floristas Disabled Children’s Clinics recently raised more than $300,000, which will be used, in part, to fund a sports program for disabled youths and help pay for advanced medical equipment.
The clinics, based at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center, will accept the fundraising proceeds at the Oct. 15 Clinic Meeting.
Eva Emerson has joined the Health Sciences Public Relations Department as a science writer, replacing Chris Tedeschi, and will cover basic sciences.
She comes to USC from the Honolulu Weekly and has also written for ScienceNOW on-line news service, Science magazine, the UPI Science Desk and the Magic School Bus television show.
Emerson received her BA in Biology at University of California, Santa Cruz and attended UCSC’s graduate certificate program in Science Communication.
