USC, Verdugo Hills Hospital agree to establish affiliation
USC and Verdugo Hills Hospital have signed an agreement with the intent to create an affiliation that will serve the needs of patients in Los Angeles County’s Foothill communities.
The partnership positions the Keck Medical Center of USC and Verdugo Hills Hospital to better meet the challenges and opportunities created by health care reform and will expand access to world-class health care services in the community.
With this joint signing, the agreement will be submitted to the California attorney general for review.
“We’re delighted to partner with Verdugo Hills Hospital to provide high-quality health care services to the Foothill communities,” said Thomas E. Jackiewicz, senior vice president and CEO of USC Health, which oversees the Keck Medical Center. “Verdugo Hills Hospital’s long history of delivering excellent services will be complemented by USC’s renowned specialty services in medical fields.”
The hospital provides a 24-hour emergency department, stroke, maternity/labor and delivery, cardiac rehabilitation, and imaging and diagnostic services.
“This is an exciting time for all of us, and both sides are looking forward to the opportunity to join forces in creating something special in the Foothill communities,” said Len LaBella, president and CEO of Verdugo Hills Hospital. “With this affiliation, the community’s health care choices just got better.”
