    USC receives another workplace award

    April 16, 2012

On the heels of recent workplace awards, USC has received two accolades related to its lactation accommodation policy.

Earlier this month the university accepted the Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace Award from the California Breastfeeding Coalition and the Family Health Promotion Award from the Breastfeeding Task Force of Greater Los Angeles.

Mei Tse, assistant director of USC’s Human Resources Administration, said the objective of the Breastfeeding Task Force is to help large employers write and develop an employee lactation policy, which USC has had in place for several years.

“The fact that USC has taken an affirmative position by instituting a policy has been a valuable asset to the work these groups have been doing,” Tse said. “USC is seen as a very conservative employer, and so many other large employers are interested to know that we have established a policy and have begun dedicating space for lactation.”
