Trojan Marching Band ready for Holiday Bowl
Spirit of Troy to perform at halftime, as well as several pregame events
Concluding Arthur C. Bartner’s 45th season as director, the USC Trojan Marching Band will perform at San Diego’s Holiday Bowl for the first time in its history on Saturday, Dec. 27. It is the 32nd bowl game Bartner has taken the organization to – including 16 Rose Bowls – and the 349th consecutive game the band has attended, a streak that began in 1987.
The Trojan Marching Band will perform at various events prior to the game:
- On Friday, the band will participate in the Battle of the Bands at the Navy & Marine Corps Luncheon at 10:30 a.m. on the USS Essex and the Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade in Downtown San Diego at 3 p.m.
- On the day of the game, the TMB will perform at 2:45 p.m. at the Holiday Bowl’s VIP Tailgate Party and at 3:30 p.m. at the USC Pre-Game Party.
At Qualcomm Stadium, the band will be located in field level sections 43 and 44. The band will perform its traditional pregame show and a short halftime presentation that will include some of its most popular songs of the year – Happy by Pharrell Williams and Rather Be by Clean Bandit – along with the band’s trademark hit with Fleetwood Mac, Tusk.
Saturday’s game marks the end of an auspicious football season for the Trojan Marching Band that saw the organization named the best band in college football by USA Today. The band also performed alongside multi-platinum recording artist Jason Derulo earlier this year and presented a fan-favorite halftime show saluting Louis Zamperini in celebration of the premiere of Unbroken, the movie chronicling his life that goes into wide release on Christmas Day.
Before returning to the USC campus, the Trojan Marching Band will perform at Disneyland at 1:45 p.m. Sunday.
