In memoriam: Frank Flores

Former All-American jumper Frank Flores ’57, DDS ’62, co-captain of USC’s 1952 NCAA champion track and field team, died on July 29 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease at his home in Newport Beach, Calif.

Flores was a key member of three NCAA championship teams for the Trojans from 1950-52. In 1952, Flores took second in the triple jump with a leap of 48-9.25 and fifth in the long jump with a leap of 24-2.25. Flores also placed third in the long jump in 1951 with a mark of 23-10.

Flores practiced dentistry in the Southern California area until his retirement. He remained a strong supporter of the USC track and field program and was an active member of the Trojan Force.

Funeral services will be held on Aug. 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Costa Mesa, Calif.
