Celebrities Take a Hike for Charity

Leoni, Cindy Crawford and Debra Messing are among the celebrities scheduled to attend.

Actress Tea Leoni and other celebrities will take part in the Ninth Annual Expedition Inspiration Take-A-Hike Oct. 2.

Leoni will join Cindy Crawford, Debra Messing, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Kathy Smith, Kim Raver and Richard Roundtree for the fund-raiser, which will be held at the Paramount Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area in Malibu.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., opening ceremonies will be held at 8:30 a.m., and the hikes begin at 9 a.m. The event will benefit the Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research and the Revlon/UCLA and USC/Norris Lee breast centers, through UCLA’s Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Celebrities will lead beginning, intermediate and advanced hikes that are geared to adults and children of all ages and fitness levels. In addition, a silent auction will be held, and booths will offer information about breast cancer prevention, exercise and nutrition.

Held in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event is designed to raise awareness about the disease and to pay tribute to those who have fought breast cancer or are still fighting it.

Expedition Inspiration was founded in 1993 by breast cancer survivor Laura Evans to raise awareness and research funds, as well as educate and support those affected by the disease. Through treks, hikes and other outdoor activities, the fund has donated more than $2 million.

Pre-registration is $30 and includes a T-shirt, refreshments and entertainment. To register or get additional information on the event, call (213) 486-4558 or go to:
