The All-American outfielder was an offensive force on the 1958 USC team that won a second College World Series title

Jerry Siegert, an All-American first team outfielder on USC’s 1958 national championship baseball team, died on Dec. 23, 2017, in San Diego after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was 82.

The three-year (1955, 57-58) letterman hit .370 with 31 runs batted in and a team-high 49 runs scored as a right fielder on the 1958 Trojan team that went 28-3 while winning the university’s second College World Series title.

Siegert came to USC from Dorsey High School in Los Angeles. After USC, he worked for Dart Entities.

No services were held. He was buried in Salt Lake City.

Siegert is survived by his wife, Myrna, daughters Julie Zela and Christy Siegert and grandson Garrison Zela.
