The latest rankings from U.S. News & World Report place the USC Viterbi School of Engineering atop its annual rankings of online graduate programs. The school placed first in overall engineering programs and in computer science — maintaining the top slot in the latter category and reclaiming its No. 1 spot in overall engineering.

The Distance Education Network (DEN) at USC Viterbi has 40 master’s-level programs in astronautical engineering; aerospace engineering; mechanical engineering; chemical, materials and petroleum engineering; civil and environmental engineering; computer science; cybersecurity; electrical engineering; financial engineering; green technologies; and systems architecting and engineering, offering 280 unique courses throughout the academic year.

DEN, which was established more than 40 years ago, is unique among all other programs in that its technology platform allows students direct access to the classroom. It boasts more than 4,000 graduates since 2001 and has educated students across continents — from explorers at the North Pole to executives in Dubai or Saudi Arabia and even students in the U.S. military serving overseas.

U.S. News ranked schools using five categories: student engagement; faculty credentials and training; peer reputation; student services and technology; and admissions selectivity.

“Our DEN@Viterbi platform system provides working professionals access to the same high-quality graduate education as our on-campus students,” said Kelly Goulis, senior associate dean of USC Viterbi Graduate and Professional Programs. “It’s exciting to be recognized as delivering the best online graduate education in engineering and computer science.”
