At this university steeped in tradition, it all starts with Tommy. And the Trojan Marching Band. And “Fight On.”

New freshmen and transfer students got their first immersion into Trojan traditions Friday at the Trojan Rally. After a festive kickoff, the new Trojans followed the Song Girls, drum major and band to Galen Center for a new tradition: the introduction of the inaugural Residential College Cup. The university’s six residential colleges — Birnkrant, New North, Parkside Arts and Humanities, Parkside International, South and West — will compete for the trophy. Take a look at some of the Friday evening fun.
